  • 3 acres of meadow to roam and surrounded by beautiful countryside
  • Perfect for exploring the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean
Property code: OC-73253

Savour the undulating landscape of the Hope Mansell Valley when you retreat to this enticing former cider mill. Set in the verdant countryside of Herefordshire, close to the border with Wales, the two-bedroom conversion nestles in three acres of meadow, orchard and woodland. Situated 5 miles from Ross-on-Wye, it sleeps four and sits within the grounds of the owner’s home but benefits from its privacy.

Step into this stone holiday haven to leave your outerwear in the hall, where there is a WC. Head into the snug to rest for a spell after your latest walk. Follow the steps down to join the rest of your party in the main open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, which was once the original milling space, where a pony would have plodded. Relax on the sofas in here in front of the TV, prepare tasty feasts in the kitchen and sit down to hearty meals at the farmhouse table. At the end of each exciting day away, head off to one of the two bedrooms, each accessed by a different staircase. A double bedroom, with a vaulted ceiling, en-suite bathroom and valley views, is set on a mezzanine level, while the twin room, which also has a scenic outlook, is on a landing where there is also a family shower room. Spill outside into the glorious sunshine on fine days to take in the views over a cup of tea or a meal. Explore the three-acre grounds as much as you wish, pausing to soak up the serenity on the bench in the meadow.

Visit the ruins of medieval Goodrich Castle, 6 miles away. Have a day out to Symonds Yat, 8.5 miles away in the Wye Valley. Climb the rock here to take in the far-reaching views and hire canoes to paddle out along the river.

  • 2 Bedrooms – 1 double and 1 twin
