Property code: OC-92280

This one-of-a-kind glamping retreat, a beautifully restored former racehorse lorry featured on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, is a wonderful spot for a restful Welsh holiday. With space for two guests plus two more by prior arrangement, it’s ideal couples, solo travellers or a small group. It enjoys a peaceful countryside setting on private grounds, just 1.5 miles from an excellent chippy, 3 from Haverfordwest and 5.5 from the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast Path for wonderful walks.

You’ll arrive via a farm lane, passing paddocks that are home to the horses that call this working farm home. There is a dedicated parking area beside a red-brick farmhouse. Six external steps lead up to the lorry’s glazed entrance, and inside, original character features and equine-inspired artwork celebrate its fascinating past. The cosy open-plan living space includes a stylish leather sofa which converts into a sofa bed, a wood burner and a compact kitchen with a built-in dining bench for relaxed meals together. At the front of the lorry, the former driver's cab has been cleverly transformed into a double bedroom with a curtain for added privacy (reduced head height around the bed). A striking freestanding copper shower adds plenty of character, and there’s a separate WC. In good weather, head outside and relax on spacious private deck, enjoying meals outside with outdoor seating, a BBQ and woodland views. There’s also an indulgent hot tub. Cyclists and paddlers are also catered for with secure bike anchors for storing bikes or kayaks.

Nearby, you’ll find sandy beaches at Broad Haven, Newgale and Nolton Haven within 7.5 miles, setting you up for seaside adventures and surfing. Haverfordwest’s independent shops, vintage cinema and bustling Friday market are well worth exploring. For a dose of local culture, spend the day exploring the Victorian house and woodland walks at Scolton Manor (6.5 miles).

The horsebox has been stunningly renovated, is very cosy, and so well kitted out. There is a picnic bench at which to enjoy morning coffee with an amazing view. We had incredible weather so the provision of fans was much appreciated, as were the shortbread biscuits, tea and coffee. Absolutely beautiful, so vey comfortable with everything we needed for sure. The attention to detail did not go unnoticed and it was an honour and a pleasure to stay in a place where so much thought and hard work had been applied.

Our second stay that was just as brilliant as last year, and the weather was finally our friend! Excellent accommodation that's spotlessly clean. My second stay and I loved it again, knowing what to expect. A very comfortable bed, cosy living space and extensive amenities. The owners have thought a lot about the visitor experience. They obviously have a lot of love for Red Rums Retreat and a wish to share it.

The seating area next to the kitchen is not very comfortable to sit in,.especially when it's wet and raining outside. The bed whilst comfortable was not great with the steering wheel.of the truck taking a portion of the bottom of the bed. The pub next door is amazing and recommend the food and drink. Very good local food and super friendly.
