Classic cottage styling blends seamlessly with modern, elegant interiors to make this former dairy a comfortable home from home for any extended family or friendship group (plus up to two four-legged chums). Located next to the owner’s home, but with full privacy, it sleeps up to eight guests in four stylish bedrooms and makes an ideal base for heading north to explore Snowdonia National Park (Eryri).
This spacious cottage has a classic lounge/diner and comprehensive kitchen with all mod cons to cook if you fancy. The general decor is neutral and calming, with quirky pops of colour thanks to clever tiling choices, feature walls and wood panelling. The effect makes for a sophisticated holiday accommodation to unwind and spend quality time together. There’s one bedroom downstairs, which lends flexibility, as does the layout of the three relaxing bedrooms upstairs. Two of the bedrooms are en-suite but there’s a third family bathroom, too. It doesn’t end there, either, as guests can enjoy the large, enclosed garden while sitting on the patio or having a BBQ. The views are stunning and plane spotters will love watching flybys, as this property is in the valley of the so-called ‘Mach Loop’.
Arty and eco-friendly Machynlleth (13 miles) hosts the celebrated annual comedy festival and also boasts a vibrant arts scene – perfect for an interesting holiday mooch. After checking out pretty little Dolgellau (10 miles), you can start your ascent of Cader Idris from here. For those on two or four legs who like to be active, Dolgellau also marks the starting point of the Mawddach Trail which stretches 9.5 miles to Barmouth by the coast. By car, the latter is 20 miles from your cosy cottage. But, on the southern edge of Snowdonia (Eryri), the whole national park is yours to discover.
