An inviting market town retreat, this traditional Welsh cottage is homely and welcoming. Set at the heart of Llanfair Caereinion, within Montgomeryshire’s picturesque Banwy Valley, the two-bedroom hideaway sleeps four guests and makes a great base for small families and couples wishing to immerse themselves in Mid Wales. Take riverside walks beside the Afon Banwy or board a heritage, narrow-gauge steam train on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway. Venture into Welshpool, 8 miles away, to potter in the shops, dine in the pubs and eateries and wander alongside the canal. Welshpool is home to the largest sheep market in Europe, held every Monday. Pause on your way back at the National Trust’s Powis Castle and Garden. Make a picnic and head off for the day to Lake Vyrnwy, with its array of walks and magnificent views. Glansevern Hall Gardens (9 miles) encompasses 25 beautiful acres for you to explore. Travel further afield across the rolling hills towards the coast, approximately 40 miles away, via the market town of Machynlleth.
Head back to the friendly cottage after your many adventures in Mid Wales to find the perfect place to rest and recuperate. Let yourselves in via the kitchen, where you can put the kettle on and cut yourself a slice of tasty Bara Brith bought in town. Unpack the tasty provisions you have also stocked up on before wandering through the door to your left that leads to the lounge. Enjoy your snack as you unwind on the soft seating, discuss your day and decide whether to cook at home or to dine out. Light the wood burner if you decide to stay in and find a gripping movie on the TV that everyone will enjoy. Your cheerful bedroom and bathroom accommodation can all be found on the first floor. Here, you have two comfortable, cottage-style double bedrooms and the family bathroom, all leading from the landing. The bathroom encompasses both a bath and a shower to ensure you have a choice.
The courtyard garden is a great spot for relaxing quietly on summer afternoons. You could also chat long into the evening out here over a bottle of wine during the warmer months. On-street parking available (subject to availability).
