For more ambitious walkers, nearby sections of the Offa’s Dyke Path provide spectacular ridge-top views along the Welsh border. 6 miles away, the historic village of Clun boasts riverside walks and castle ruins, while the pretty border town of Montgomery (9 miles) is known for its hilltop castle ruins and welcoming pubs. Alternatively, head to Ludlow (20 miles), a famous foodie destination filled with independent shops, markets and a striking medieval castle.
