The setting does much of the work here: straight from the door, you can pick up routes towards the Sugar Loaf summit, follow grassy tracks across the lower slopes or head into the surrounding valleys for longer walks that are backed with Usk Valley and Black Mountains views. For a dose of local history, visit the Blaenavon World Heritage Site and the Big Pit National Coal Museum, both within 8.5 miles, or spend time in Abergavenny exploring castles, medieval mansions, and Roman remains. This well-loved foodie town is a fitting place to round off the day, with gastro pubs, traditional inns and welcoming country pubs to choose from.
