Get to know southern Snowdonia with a trip to the vibrant market town of Dolgellau, staying in this traditional Welsh stone cottage that’s filled with characterful features. The end-terrace cottage offers a charming bolthole for four guests and is a perfect choice for two adventure-seeking couples or a family holidaying together. Experience excellent hikes and bike rides from the centre of town, plotting your route to circle back into one of the welcoming pubs the area has to offer. End every day getting snug in the property’s lounge, curled up by the fire with your feet up.
With traditional Welsh slate flooring, exposed brick walls and low wooden beams, this property has been well-conserved to create an atmospheric, old-world place to stay. The living room features an impressive inglenook fireplace with a multi-fuel stove keeping things warm throughout the cooler months. Comfy seating is positioned around that and a TV to fill your evenings. Step through into the generously proportioned kitchen/diner at mealtimes, cooking up something good with some locally sourced produce. You’ll pass a utility room on your way up to the first floor where two bedrooms, a king-size and a double, sit alongside a family bathroom.
Positioned at the base of Cader Idris (5.5 miles), Dolgellau is an excellent epicentre of national park activities. It’s not too far from the coastline and the scenic Mawddach Trail offers a footpath and cycle route that flows through the town and along the Mawddach Estuary to Barmouth (9 miles). It’s also not far from the Coed y Brenin Forest Park (8 miles), a place where mountain biking trails offer adrenaline-pumping rides and walking trails lead through towering treescapes and waterfall scenes. For water sports, Bala Lake is just 14.5 miles away for kayaking, windsurfing and sailing experiences.
