This fabulous property, situated on a small holding just 4.5 miles from the pretty village of Dolgellau, is perfect for couples or families looking for an escape to the Welsh countryside. Sleeping four across two cosy bedrooms, each with its own en-suite, this beautiful house is a relaxing accommodation to return to after a long day out exploring Snowdonia National Park. Spend the day at Coed y Brenin Forest Park (12 miles) cycling along the trails, before coming home and enjoying an al fresco meal in south-facing garden.
The holiday home, which is a 200-year-old converted coach house and stables, is surrounded by natural beauty. Say hello to sheep, goats and ducks on the small holding or take in the beautiful views of Cader Idris. Inside, the property is laid out in a reverse-level style. On the first floor, the bright and airy kitchen/diner is an ideal spot for sociable dinners, while exposed stone walls and wooden beams in the living room create a welcoming space. Curl up in front of the wood burner-effect electric fire on comfy sofas and watch some TV. Downstairs, peaceful bedrooms with neutral, cottage-style decor await; wake up to a lovely garden and mountain views from the patio doors in the double room.
Pull on your walking boots and take a 5-mile hike around the foothills of Cader Idris from Dolgellau, passing through the wooded countryside and hidden farms and valleys. If you’ve got little legs with you, take in the national park by rail; choose from the Corris Steam Railway (11.5 miles) and Fairbourne Steam Railway (13 miles). Fairbourne also has a beach that’s perfect for sandcastles, or you could head over the estuary to Barmouth Beach (14 miles).
