  • Spend evenings soaking away the days in your own bubbling, private hot tub
  • Set in a quiet and tranquil spot with paths and country lanes on the doorstep

Property code: OC-WAG560

This attractive holiday home on the Llyn Peninsula makes the perfect rural retreat for couples and small families. The cottage boasts a tranquil, countryside setting, with a fantastic choice of walks on your doorstep. The coastal town of Pwllheli is 4 miles away, and has several cosy pubs and independent eateries. At the end of the day, dine on the sunny patio or sink into the bubbling hot tub.

The stylish former gatehouse is arranged across one level, and cleverly combines period features with contemporary design. The welcoming lounge is bright and airy, with comfortable seating, a wood burner, and sliding doors opening onto the woodland garden and patio with a hot tub, allowing you to extend the social space outdoors in summer months. There’s also a piano for musical guests to enjoy! The kitchen/diner has everything you need to cater for the group, as well as a breakfast bar for informal dining and an antique dining table. Completing the accommodation is a king-size bedroom and a super-king-size that can be made up as a twin on request. A sleek bathroom with a free-standing bath completes the holiday home. The outside area is enclosed and has a hot tub on a secluded patio, surrounded by wild gardens and woodland. There’s also a suntrap patio with furniture for al fresco dining.

Head into Pwllheli to wander amongst its narrow streets and peruse the independent shops and boutiques. The town also hosts a popular, open-air market where you can pick up delicious, local produce. Alternatively, while away a lazy afternoon on one of the two south-facing beaches. Nefyn (3 miles), a village on the north coast, also makes a lovely day out. Potter around the maritime museum or perhaps play a round of golf on the famous headland course.

We had a lovely time on our holiday at lodge. We visited barmouth beach, black rock sands and drove to Angel bay to see the seals! The property is lacking on a few things but was warm and comfortable (apart from the bed). The hot tub was a nice luxury and after walking all day helped with aching muscles.

Poor value for money, some of the furnishings need replacing with a miss match of styles thrown together and poor quality. Dirty dishes. Most of the garden chairs are broken. Fridge is broken and leaks. Cleaners turned up an hour after check in. Didn't risk using the hot tub. Gardens needs a good clearing and cutting back. Would not return nor rRead moreecommend. Hide

An extremely disappointing property, given the price. It seems in need of some TLC, and the attention to cleaning needs improving; there were masses of cobwebs and spiders, especially noticeable if one moved any furniture. We never even considered using the hot tub! Also there were no instructions, for anything! The internet is shocking, very, vRead moreery slow and intermittent; I notice that the property description on the site now highlights that this is slow (which I'm sure it didn't when I booked), but it is virtually non existent. The images on the site portray a light and airy environment; in truth it is dark and hemmed in. The dense foliage, whilst providing noise dampening from the main road, does mean that it is not possible to even see what the weather is doing (other than rain). Also given that the two patio door windows in the lounge are single glazed, I wouldn't fancy being here in winter. Overall the property wasn't what I would call cosy or comfortable, especially the sagging main bed! Hide

Enjoyed our week at The Lodge but might not have booked if wed known there are no walks direct from the accommodation which meant driving everywhere. Something we usually try to avoid. Lodge is beautiful but sits next to a busy, noisy (and fast!) main road. There is only a small freezer section in the fridge, so perhaps bear this in mind when pRead moreacking food for your holiday. Enclosed, private garden was perfect for the dog (and us) but promotional photos suggest there is an open aspect. There isnt. Comfortable, spacious and private, the Lodge is a great place to spend a week, but the location wasnt for us. Hide

A beautiful, comfortable cottage, equipped with everything you need to enjoy your holiday. Appreciate it was an old gate house lodge but every room had a small family of cellar spiders living in it, these do not appear overnight, for example 6 x 5cm ones in one bedroom alone, which was fun trying to explain to the 6yr old it was OK to sleep in there. I'd suggest the property had not been "properly" cleaned for a while. The gardens weRead morere overgrown and untidy I had to clear up all the leaves before we could use the patio or bbq area. It was obvious no prep had been done before our arrival. But hey the gardener turned up on the last day around 830ish to clean it all and cut it back and lawns etc during our usage time not changeover which was a surprise whilst standing in my pants getting ready looking out the bug full length window. Oddly zero property information at the lodge just a laminated sign on the bed telling you to remove bedding at end of stay, no information on hot tub instructions or usage, not sure if the hot tub was serviced with chemicals during the stay, something I check after each use at home, bit odd for a week. All above a shame really otherwise it would have been perfect. Lovely place and location and well equipped. Hide

Warm, clean and cosy secluded Lodge. Ideal location for easily exploring both sides of Llyn Peninsula. Well screened and enclosed garden and I imagine it's a great sun trap in the summer. Many thanks.

Cute property. Super helpful all being on one level, especially with children and a dog! House kept well, nice and clean upon arrival and a very generous welcome gift awaited us with the information folder (which was super helpful and even suggested some lovely places to visit). The location is great too.
