Wales Cottage Holidays visitors to the Brecon Beacons National Park can join in the Bank Holiday fun in around Brecon and Abergavenny and Hay-on-Wye. On Saturday 24 August, Talybont-on-Usk Village Show and Sports is a horticulture and craft show along with fancy dress and children’s races, refreshments and side stalls. Everyone welcome to this happy and friendly event. Also on the 24th, you can take the Bwlch with Altitude Challenge Walk. Find a team of 4 people to walk around Llangorse lake covering 12 miles of stunning scenery and finding answers to various challenges as you go. Talgarth Festival of the Black Mountains celebrates the Mountains and Welsh countryside, a lovely family festival in a beautiful setting and a great way to spend the Bank Holiday weekend, 24 & 25 August.
Free parking and entry and mostly free entertainment too! On Monday 26 August there’s an Lunchtime Recital at Brecon Cathedral by Cameron Luke, Director of Music at All Saints in Cheltenham. Admission is free and the recital begins at 1pm, lasting for around 50 minutes. Llangynidr Duck Race is a great Bank Holiday event, an annual race with 3000 plastic ducks! The fun starts at the Coach and Horses bridge in Llangynidr and finishes at the Bottom Lock. There are good prizes too. The Abergavenny Food Festival takes place in September and from 21 August – 18 September, visitors are invited to create amazing art installations in the town’s Market Hall. Wales Holidays has cottages to let in all areas of Wales over the Bank Holiday weekend.
