Cardigan Bay, the far west coast of Wales, is one of the best areas in Europe for dolphin spotting and during October there is still a chance to take a boat out and observe these wonderful creatures. From Cardigan in the south of the bay to Pwllheli in the north there are plenty of opportunities even this late in the year to try and get more up close and personal with the great abundance of wildlife that call the coast their home. As well as the Bottlenose dolphins, look out for Atlantic grey seals, Harbour porpoises and a wide variety of splendid seabirds. Appreciate also the stunning coastline of Wales from the different view point of being out on the waves.
Wales Holidays still has a variety of cottages and farmhouses available near the Cardigan Bay coast over the next few weeks. If there are just the two of you the attractive stone cottage near Cardigan is in a courtyard setting on the outskirts of a small village and only 2.5 miles from Cardigan itself.
Alternatively there is the farmhouse near Cardigan, providing particularly spacious accommodation for 6 with lovely rural views to the Preseli Hills. Moving up the coast to the Lleyn Peninsula, consider the charming stable conversion for 3. This cottage near Morfa Nefyn enjoys panoramic views of the Rivals mountain range. A bigger property is the bungalow near Pwllheli, sleeping 5 with distance sea views and just a mile from the marina town. Wales Holidays has cottages to let in all areas of Wales. No longer available :(
2015 Update: Apartment 2 in Orielton Hall, provides accommodation with a modern feel for 4 people, on the edge of the popular sandy beach town of Barmouth on the West Wales coast. Wave Crest is 3/4 mile up the hill from the village of Aberdaron with it's long beach on the tip of the Lleyn Peninsula. The bunaglow which sleeps 6 people offers great views over to the sea.
