The Heritage steam railways in Wales are one of our most popular attractions and some will keep running into November. Click on any of the following areas for further information and cottages near these railways.
In North Wales, the Ffestiniog Railway will run two daily trains on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 November through to 19 December. Due to construction work taking place at Porthmadog, these trains will leave Minffordd for the trip to Blaenau Ffestiniog. Also in North Wales, the Llanberis Lake Railway will be open with three of four trains each day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 5 November to 4 December. For visitors to the Llangollen area, a mix of steam and heritage railcars will be on the Railway until Sunday 10th November. Special events include an evening Murder Mystery Train on the 2nd and a Fireworks Train (Ride the Rocket) on the 3rd. Remembrance trains will be on the line over the weekend the 9th & 10th with a special steam fund-raising fish and chip special on the Saturday evening.
The Vale of Rheidol Railway will be running a daily train departing from Aberystwyth for Devils Bridge at 11.30 on Saturdays and Sundays 9th & 10th, 16th & 17th and 23rd & 24th November. These trains will not leave to return to Aberystwyth until 14.30 to give time for passengers to enjoy a lunch at The Hafod Hotel, Devils Bridge.
