Head to Llangollen next month for the 67th Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. This prestigious event takes place from Tuesday 9 to Sunday 14 July, when over 4,000 musicians, singers and dancers from around the globe come to Llangollen to perform at one of the world's most colourful festivals with its unique Spirit of Peace and Goodwill. The Tuesday evening includes the official Opening Ceremony and the concert will be a celebration of international music and dance featuring a steel band, international competitors and a “Mega” Male Voice Choir. Wednesday’s concert features an evening with Evelyn Glennie, Noah Stewart, Claire Jones, the Santo Tomas Choir and the Llangollen International Orchestra.
It will be Strictly Cuban on Thursday evening with Latin salsa dance from James and Ola Jordan, professional dancers from Strictly Come Dancing plus Cuba’s legendary music ensemble Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club. The following night will celebrate 200 years of Giuseppe Verdi with an international performance of his Requiem. The best of the best compete for the Choir of the World “Pavarotti” Trophy on the Saturday and this year the evening features dance with a new Dance Champions trophy and will culminate with a very special performance from Wales’ own Only Men Aloud. The final evening concert on Sunday 14th features Jools Holland and his very talented entourage, rounded off with a Spectacular Fireworks Finale.
International performers are invited to take part in the evening concerts featuring world-class artists. In addition to these concerts, most of the competitions take place during the day - and the Llangollen experience isn't limited to the stage. Colour and music will be brought to the streets around the Eisteddfod Field on the Tuesday afternoon when international competitors from across the globe parade through the town in a brilliant array of colour and sound - and there is a Dancing in the Street competition on the Thursday. Recitals and other events will be held in Llangollen itself and the nearby towns of Oswestry, Gresford and Ruabon.
