Set on a 100-acre working farm, this award-winning barn conversion is cosy and welcoming for couples or small families, with some beautiful original features. Set in the small village of Cray in the Brecon Beacons National Park, it’s in an ideal position for getting out and about in this beautiful area and exploring its many attractions, from pony trekking to white water canoeing.
This lovely cottage has some beautiful original features, including an exposed-stone wall and beamed ceilings. The lounge/diner is a welcoming and cosy space, with lots of comfortable seating and a TV with DVID and Blu-Ray. The circular wooden dining table is perfect for enjoying meals cooked up in the sweet kitchen, which has a large fridge/freezer and a washing machine. On the first floor you’ll find two pretty double bedrooms tucked under sloping ceilings, with skylights ideal for gazing up at the stars. They share a spacious bathroom, also with a skylight, that has a free-standing corner bath and a separate shower. In terms of outside space, there’s a farmyard with parking at the front, and a back garden with outdoor furniture where you can enjoy an alfresco meal and perhaps spot red kites swooping above.
In a peaceful, rural location, the cottage is nevertheless well connected, and the main bus route to Brecon (12 miles) is just a few metres away. The nearest pub, shops and petrol stations are in Sennybridge, 3.5 miles, while Brecon itself is a traditional market town where you’ll find a variety of independent shops and places to eat as well as a magnificent cathedral. There are walks from your front door and plenty of local cycling trails, and the cottage includes half a mile of private fishing on the River Crai, a tributary of the famous salmon river, the Usk.
