Bursting with charm and character, this farmhouse offers a serene Welsh escape for couples and solo travellers. Located on a working farm in the heart of Snowdonia, it’s surrounded by tranquil walks and boasts superb views over Cader Idris. A dream for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers, while away days walking, cycling, climbing, mountain biking and observing nature, then return for cosy evenings by the wood burner and stargazing in this dark sky reserve.
Laid out over two storeys, this traditional cottage blends exposed beamed ceilings, slate flooring, and rustic stone walls with high-quality fixtures and fittings for a cosy and welcoming stay. With a large squashy sofa and a warming wood burner, the lounge invites relaxation after days on the trails. Cook up a storm on the range oven in the spacious kitchen, before enjoying dinner for two at the dining table. When it’s time for bed, head upstairs via a library landing to get cosy in the double bedroom, before a refreshing shower in the ground floor bathroom leaves you ready for another adventurous day. Outside, acres of farmland, woodlands, pretty gardens and riverbanks are yours to explore, and there’s seating in front of the property, ideal for a morning cuppa while birdwatching or stargazing with a glass of wine. Private parking is available for one car; note that the access road is only accessible via a 4x4 during the winter months.
It''s a mile to the local pub, while the market town of Dolgellau (4 miles) boasts a good selection of shops and eateries, and hosts a popular Welsh music festival every July. This is a fabulous base to enjoy the great outdoors with the Mawddach cycling and walking trail tracing the southern shore of the estuary, an area abundant in nature and history. Otherwise the rugged trails of the Eryri National Park (Snowdonia) call, with Snowdonia Mountain just 15 miles away.
