For a restorative trip with your nearest and dearest, it’s hard to beat this welcoming stone cottage in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. It’s at the foot of Cadair Idris and part of a working farm, providing a peaceful and scenic base for up to four guests. Dolgellau (4 miles) is an easy trip for shops, cafes and classic Welsh charm, while stunning coastlines and estuary views are also within reach. If you’re a small family or group of friends keen for fresh mountain air, starry nights and beautiful countryside, this place is for you.

This pretty stone cottage pairs rustic charm with cosy comfort, featuring original touches like exposed beams and flagstone floors. In the lounge, a feature fireplace and glowing wood burner create a cosy feel for relaxed evenings. The stylish kitchen opens straight onto the veranda through big bi-fold doors, so you can drift in and out on sunny days. When it’s time to turn in for the night, head upstairs to one of two double bedrooms, each with peaceful views over the garden and woodland. The bathroom even has a luxurious free-standing bath if you fancy a post-walk soak. Outside on the veranda, sip your first coffee of the day in one of the two covered seating areas. The space also features a rustic rainfall shower for rinsing off sandy toes, a fire pit for warmth and marshmallow toasting, and a charcoal BBQ for cooking up dinners. This property also benefits from private parking for two cars.

When you’re ready to explore, head to Fairbourne Beach (6 miles) for a stroll with views across the Mawddach Estuary. Barmouth (8 miles) is perfect for harbour walks, traditional fairground fun and ice cream stops. Keen walkers will love the trails around Dolgellau, a gateway to some of Snowdonia’s most rewarding hikes. Please note strictly 4x4 vehicles only can access this property.
