For a rustic Welsh experience, book a stay at this charming stone cottage, located on a working farm in the lush Dulais Valley. You’ll be surrounded by rolling hills and wide-open skies and just outside the friendly village of Crynant (0.5 miles), home to a chippy and a welcoming pub (1 mile). With six guests accommodated across three bedrooms, it’s wonderful for families or groups of friends planning a peaceful break in the countryside.

This welcoming abode features a warm and stylish interior that blends rustic character with modern comforts – think oak floors, wooden beams and shuttered windows, all wrapped up in a soothing palette of natural tones. The kitchen/diner sets you up for cooking sessions and sociable meals, with a range cooker for the designated chef and a large dinner table. In the spacious and bright lounge, a toasty wood burner nestles within a huge stone fireplace – ideal for snuggling in front of the Smart TV after a day outdoors. Upstairs, you’ll find a beautiful double with an antique French bed and en-suite, plus two lovely twin rooms and a family bathroom. The private patio outdoors is wonderful for enjoying BBQ dinners or sunny breakfasts, while the shared spa facilities are also a real bonus – they include a large indoor heated pool, a sauna and a hot tub with views over March Hywel Mountain (spa time is shared with one neighbouring cottage, with private sessions alternating between mornings and afternoons). Kids will be in their element letting off steam in the shared outdoor play area. Parking for four cars gives you ample space.

Nearby, you’ll have excellent mountain walks and pretty cycle rides right from your doorstep. Head to the stunning waterfall at Aberdulais (3 miles) or check out the magical Dan-yr-Ogof showcaves (11 miles). Swansea (16 miles) is fab for seaside vibes, that city buzz, shops, museums, a waterpark and a huge indoor market. For a fascinating walk through the area’s industrial past, hit the Dulais Valley Heritage Trail (4 miles) – a lovely way to mix fresh air with a bit of history. Further afield, Langland Bay (18.5 miles) makes a brilliant beach day out.

We had a fantastic stay at this cottage and honestly couldnt have asked for more. The setting is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views that you can enjoy both from the cottage and the pool area. The cottage itself was incredibly well equipped. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need, and it was great that thoughtful basics were prRead moreovided too, like washing up supplies, shampoo and conditioner. We especially appreciated the little touches on arrival, milk in the fridge, tea and coffee and delicious Welsh cakes waiting for us. The pool facilities are outstanding, it feels like being at a high-end spa. The views over the fields while swimming were just beautiful and added to the whole experience. For families, this place is perfect. The kids absolutely loved the playground and were thrilled to meet all the animals. A real highlight was Poppy the dog joining us on a walk up the hill behind the farm, we also had a funny and memorable moment waking up to find the very friendly pony had made its way into our garden. The kids loved feeding the pig too. The beds were very comfortable, and the whole cottage felt cosy, clean and well looked after. We thoroughly loved our stay and would highly recommend it. Hide

Pool and leisure complex one of the best we have seen, new, modern, bright and well appointed. Cottage in a nice quiet location, close to many attractions and days out.
