Tucked away in the rolling hills of South Wales, this beautifully converted bolthole is a great base for a family of four, with walking trails, castles and fun-filled family attractions all within easy reach. After a day of exploring, come home to peaceful surroundings, far-reaching countryside views and cosy film nights in the lounge.
Take the mile-long track up to the 400-year-old former farm building and admire the scenery as you go. The historic exterior sets the feel for the stay's interior, with cosy exposed stone and farmhouse doors throughout. Snuggle on the open-plan living space, or enjoy slices of Bara Brith around the sturdy dining table. There are plenty of appliances in the kitchen, should you fancy cooking, or perhaps bring back a takeaway and tuck in at the four-person garden bench. Skylights and soft colours create a peaceful atmosphere in both the first-floor bedrooms, while the bathroom delivers a muscle-soaking experience in the bubbly tub. Use the Dolce Gusto coffee machine in the morning and savour it in the crisp Welsh air.
Suppose you can bring yourselves to venture out. In that case, the M4 is just 3.5 miles away and opens up the road to many fantastic attractions, including Caerphilly Castle (9 miles), Cardiff city (14 miles) and Barry Island (27.5 miles). Keen golfers will find several courses nearby, such as Newport Golf Club and Llanwern Golf Club (both within 12.5 miles), while youngsters will love running wild at the all-weather Cefn Mably Farm Park (8.5 miles). And, if you fancy taking the bike out for a spin, Cwmcarn Forest Drive (5.5 miles) is a mountain biking paradise with three epic trails to choose from.
