Enjoy a tranquil couple’s retreat in this deluxe lodge that also welcomes up to two dogs in rural Wales, surrounded by rolling green landscapes and breathtaking views. One of four properties on the site, there’s walking and cycling from the doorstep as well as extensive grounds to explore.
This modern and sleek take on a wood-clad lodge or cabin is up two small steps. Inside, the main living area is open-plan with wonderful views through the double doors and windows, letting the light in. Cleverly designed, this space has defined zones with a kitchen at one end, then the dining table by one set of opening doors, plus the woodburner in the middle to keep things cosy whatever the weather. The rest of the space is taken up by the comfortable lounge area. It’s all decorated smartly in relaxing, neutral tones with clean lines from the modern furnishings. Through the two sets of double doors is the sizable veranda, enclosed by a glass balustrade. It’s furnished for sitting or dining al fresco while admiring those all-important views. Or, hop into your private hot tub to admire mother nature or stargaze.
Newtown (2 miles) offers independent shops, places to eat and drink plus a contemporary art gallery. It’s a great stop to stock up on holiday treats and have a general mooch. Slightly further away, Montgomery (5 miles) is a pretty market town still retaining its ancient walls. From here, it’s easy to explore the Vale of Montgomery’s stunning scenery – either on foot or by bike. If you fancy some classic sightseeing, then head to Powis Castle and Garden (13 miles), a National Trust property offering medieval history alongside Grade II-listed gardens, but note that it has seasonal dog restrictions.
