Gather your tribe (up to seven other family or friends) plus up to two canine companions and head for a glamping trip to remember in this deluxe safari tent in the village of Cwm-cou, Carmarthenshire. With three other safari tent lodges on the complex, there’s also brilliant shared amenities like the children’s playground, an honesty shop, cafe and bar to make life easy.
It might be made of canvas, but this large safari tent feels substantial and, with insulated walls, wood panelling in parts and a wood burner, it certainly feels cosy, too. Built on a platform on stilts, it’s up four steps to enter this quirky accommodation via the veranda. The living area is open plan, but cleverly zoned into the lounge with a wood burner, a dining area and a substantial kitchen. The bedrooms offer flexible sleeping for up to eight, with the quirkiest being the cabin double bed. Unlike camping, each lodge has a private shower room and WC on the balcony. Outside, the generous veranda is partially undercover with dining furniture and also a private hot tub. There’s a fire pit and BBQ, too, down on the lawn.
Explore the greenery and woodlands of your immediate rural surroundings. Two miles brings you to Newcastle Emlyn on the River Teifi. Mooch about the town or use it as a jumping-off point for walks including a three-miler to Cenarth Falls, or a 6.5-mile riverside path to Llechryd with its Grade II-listed Llechryd Bridge. The 83-mile Teifi Valley Trail is great for active humans and canines alike, affording some wonderful Welsh landscapes. Or check out Cardigan (9.5 miles), famous for its 11th-century castle by the river. From here, you can easily access breathtaking beaches that include Mwnt (11.5 miles), Poppet (12.5 miles) and Aberporth (7.5 miles).
