Saundersfoot to Tenby coastal path walk

A rewarding challenge with stunning views; enjoy coastal scenery along the trail of Saundersfoot to Tenby. Your starting point is by the main road that runs along the back of Saundersfoot Beach and soon you'll leave the road behind and embark on a wooded track. This section features a mix of gentle to steep inclines and diverse terrain, including a beautiful cliff-top woodland that transforms into a breathtaking bluebell spectacle come spring. 

As you emerge from the pretty woodland onto a large, open field, you'll see a glimpse of Tenby in the distance. Continue along the path until you reach Tenby, where you'll find yourself above its expansive sandy beach. Once here, explore this charming seaside town, with its array of cafes and pubs − perfect for a well-deserved rest and refreshments.

Saundersfoot to Tenby circular walk

The Saundersfoot to Tenby circular trail is a scenic loop that offers a moderate challenge with spectacular coastal views. It is perfect for seasoned hikers or runners and is popular largely due to how easily you can immerse yourself within the natural beauty of Pembrokeshire − an appealing prospect for visiting athletes.  

Starting in Saundersfoot, the trail follows a road out of town before taking the footpath through Trevayne Wood and along the coastline. The first half of the route overlaps with the renowned Pembrokeshire Coast Path, before turning inland through peaceful woodlands and open pastures. Once in Tenby, make your way through the town to pick up the more urban route back − the return leg includes some road walking so take care along these sections.

Saundersfoot to Stepaside walk

Explore scenic landscapes and rich history when you follow the path of the old railway line from Saundersfoot to Stepaside on this short walk. Beginning in the village of Saundersfoot, the route winds along the picturesque coastline towards Wisemans Bridge.  

Along the way, you'll enjoy stunning sea views and pass through tunnels carved into the cliffs - a unique feature of the walk. Once you reach Wisemans Bridge - a quaint coastal village with a beautiful beach - take a moment to pause and soak in the surroundings or stop for refreshments. 

From here, the path leads into the aptly named Pleasant Valley, where tranquil woodlands offer a peaceful contrast to the panoramic coastal views. This section of the walk is a beautiful contrast to the historic Stepaside Ironworks, where preserved ruins stand as a reminder of the area’s industrial past.

Saundersfoot to Amroth walk

As per the previous walking routes, this one starts in Saundersfoot, with the walk to Amroth following the well-trodden coastal path that hugs the dramatic coastline. Initially, the route leads you through tunnels carved into the cliffs, as you emerge from these tunnels, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the rugged coastline and the sparkling sea. 

Continuing along the path, you'll pass through the pretty hamlet of Wisemans Bridge and from here the path continues to ascend, offering panoramic vistas of the surrounding countryside. As you approach Amroth the scenery changes, with the rugged cliffs gradually giving way to more gentle slopes.  

The path eventually leads you to Amroth, a charming village, famed for its beautiful sandy beach and its relaxed atmosphere.

Saundersfoot village walk

This scenic circular walk around Saundersfoot is a great way to familiarise yourself with the village, offering a blend of coastal views, woodland paths and a flavour of the village’s seaside charm. A leisurely walk of approximately 3 miles, it is perfect for those looking to explore the beauty of the village and its surrounding countryside, without venturing too far. It’s a popular route with families. 

Starting from the harbour, you’ll follow the coastline, offering stunning sea views as you head towards Coppet Hall Beach. From here, the trail leads inland through pretty woodland and gentle hills. Along the way, you’ll pass through quiet residential lanes and footpaths before gradually looping back towards Saundersfoot.  

As you return to the village, you’ll pass a variety of local shops, cafes and restaurants, so you can reward yourselves with a tasty treat after your walk.
