Description

The Bakery is a single storey annexe, the former bakery building at the rear of the owner’s large Georgian house, situated in rolling countryside just outside the village of Beulah, 4.5 miles from Llanwrtyd Wells, the smallest town in Britain. Beulah has a small supermarket and petrol station, and The Trout Inn, serving food, all within a half mile walk of the cottage.

The Bakery is accessed via a shared hallway, separating it from the owner’s house, each with their own private entrances. The cottage is simply and traditionally furnished but with a contemporary fitted kitchen and wet room. The open plan living accommodation is dominated by the huge beamed inglenook fireplace, featuring the original bakery ovens and now housing a large woodburning stove, with armchair(s) adjacent. A single day bed provides a place to sit and watch TV (small flatscreen TV/DVD with basic Sky digibox). The kitchen diner incorporates a good sized, quality fitted kitchen with built-in electric oven, ceramic hob with extractor hood over, fridge, combination microwave, integrated washing machine and a table with three chairs for dining. Off the main living room is a double bedroom, leading through to the en suite wet room.  Heating is by woodburning stove (logs provided) and freestanding convector heaters, with a heated towel rail in the wet room. Mobile WiFi access is provided.

Builth Wells and the Royal Welsh Agricultural Showground at Llanelwedd are 10 miles east and 15 miles south west is the interesting town of Llandovery, with its ruined castle, on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Rhayader, with its Red Kite Feeding Station, is 17 miles away, with the Elan Valley Visitor Centre, reservoirs and forest walking, just 3 miles further on. This is an excellent area for lovers of the countryside, walking, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding and birdwatching. The property is also suitable for the less mobile and assisted wheelchair users, who would enjoy a relaxing break, touring the beautiful scenery of this peaceful location.

Bring your horse with you on a holiday to The Bakery. We have three high quality loose boxes, access to water and a large yard for easy turning and unloading; available by prior arrangement at extra cost. Although most guests prefer to bring their own bedding and feed the local Farmers' Suppliers can help with these needed. The Drovers' Walk, as featured in The Times Weekend of 8 December 2018, is a classic and there are many other trails and bridleways to explore as well as the celebrated equine events in Llanwrtyd Wells and Builth Wells.

Secure bike storage available by arrangement with the owner. Parking on the shared yard to the front of the property. A patio table and chairs is available for sitting out at the front in fine weather, but there is no garden.
