It’s a unique and magical place to stay for two – perfect for surprising your partner with for that special trip. The castle is known for its magnificent knot garden, peacocks and mystical history. Not only that, you’ll be located within the world-famous Eryri - Snowdonia National Park, with excellent hiking and cycling opportunities starting right from your doorstep.

This characterful dwelling is brimming with original features, including thick stone walls, original leaded windows and an ancient front door. The welcoming living room has a two-seater sofa, a wood burner for lighting up on those chilly nights, plus entertainment options including a Smart TV and DVD player. In the compact yet well-equipped kitchen, you can cook your partner a hearty holiday meal then light a candle for a quiet dinner enjoyed with a glass of wine. The views from the sweet double bedroom looking out across the castle and gardens are magnificent. Surrounding the property are 10 acres of lovely historic gardens that you can explore at your leisure.

When it’s time to tear yourself away from your cosy nest, you’ll find a pub, shops and cafes 1 mile away in Llanrwst, a charming market town perched on the bank of the river Conwy. In Betwys-y-Coed (4 miles), known as the ‘Gateway to Snowdonia’, you can spend an afternoon going on a boat trip or, if you’re feeling adventurous, partake in some water sports on the River Conwy. You may also choose to visit the National Trust’s Bodnant Gardens 9.5 miles to the north.

We enjoyed our stay but think there xould have been a couole if things to improve it. We would stay again though.

We had a wonderful holiday in the gatehouse. It was as described. I think all self catering is expensive so just have to accept this. The settee was uncomfortable for me but otherwise all was good. Lovely to have access to grounds and Gwydir Castle at anytime.
