Cattle & Co Swansea

Step inside this incredible smokehouse restaurant and you’ll find yourself immediately enveloped by the rich, smoky scent of low-and-slow cooked meats; it’s a sensory experience. The atmosphere is as lively as the menu is generous, with an enthusiastic team serving up mouthwatering platters of ribs, brisket and pulled pork.
One of four Cattle & Co establishments, the founder's passion for slow, smoked food is evident and every authentic detail has been considered, making this restaurant an essential stop for anyone who craves authentic American BBQ done the right way. Once you've tried this amazing food you'll definitely want a second taste, so why not visit Cattle & Co's sister site in Penclawdd. It's one of our top recommended restaurants in Gower for good reason.

Kardomah Cafe

A true Swansea institution, the Kardomah Cafe is a charming hostelry. With its beautifully preserved 1950s decor and welcoming feel, this cafe is famous for a reason. This place was once a meeting place for local intellectuals and artists, most notably the legendary poet Dylan Thomas.
The service is friendly, the tea and coffee are renowned, and the homemade classics from breakfasts to their famous ‘plate-sized’ teacakes are absolutely delicious. Kardomah Cafe is also a site of historical interest and a must-visit for anyone interested in Swansea’s literary history and traditional charm.

The Shed

Situated in a stunning waterside location in the Maritime Quarter, The Shed is a real find. It offers up a menu that celebrates the best of local Welsh produce with a modern twist. Led by a chef who delivers plates that are as beautiful as they are delicious, with an ever-changing menu that ensures every visit is a unique experience.
This is proper, unpretentious cooking that has deservedly earned a place in the prestigious Good Food Guide, perfect for a special occasion. You’ll find the open kitchen also adds to the buzz, allowing you to watch the chefs at work.

Gigi Gao’s

For a dinner experience that is as much a feast for the eyes as it is for the palate, Gigi Gao’s is an absolute must. The interior is a riot of colour and art, but the real star is the food, which strongly focuses on lesser-known northern Chinese delicacies.
It's a hugely popular spot with locals, so booking ahead is essential, as it’s far more than your average takeaway. The dishes are packed with flavour and authenticity, making it hands down, the best Chinese restaurant in Swansea.

- Laura recommends: “Gigi Gao’s has been repeatedly voted the best Chinese restaurant in Wales so you’re in for a treat whatever you choose, but my personal favourite is YuXiang chicken with a side of garlic broccoli.”
Pizzeria Vesuvio

If you were to ask any Swansea local where to find a great, authentic, Mediterranean restaurant, Pizzeria Vesuvio will almost certainly be mentioned. This bustling restaurant has been a favourite for locals and visitors for years, serving up classic Italian hospitality and some of the best stone-baked pizzas in the city.
Beyond the delicious pizzas, the menu offers a wide range of pasta and other traditional Italian fare, all prepared with an authentic, rustic approach. You’ll discover that the portion sizes are as big as the warm welcome you’ll receive.

Adelina's Bar & Kitchen

For the ultimate Indian feast, head to Adelina’s; a superb Indian restaurant that combines a high-quality dining experience with a stunning location within the iconic Patti Pavilion. Founder’s & Co

This urban food hall brings together a rotating line-up of independent street food vendors under one roof, creating a buzzing atmosphere. So, whether you’re craving a gourmet burger, Mexican tacos, or a wood-fired pizza, everyone in your group can get exactly what they want without compromising on quality.
The communal tables and lively bar area makes it an ideal location for large groups or a casual meal, and the variety ensures there's something to please even the pickiest of eaters.

I order depending on my mood, though the Tres Carnes Birria tacos from Cwtchitas are amazing as are the Backyard BBQ Chicken Strips from MAG.”
The Secret Beach Bar & Kitchen

With its panoramic views across Swansea Bay, The Secret definitely lives up to its name, offering a spectacular dining experience that feels like a hidden gem. This place truly celebrates its location, with a menu that ranges from hearty breakfasts and light lunches to sophisticated evening meals.
Watch the tide roll in whilst you sip a coffee on the terrace, where you’ll find the best seats in the house, or enjoy a delicious dinner with a view, making every meal a memorable one.

Haystack Cafe

Tucked away from the city centre, Haystack Cafe has built a loyal following amongst locals and visitors for its friendly atmosphere and exceptional food. Famed locally for its inventive and delicious brunch menu, which includes some of the best, and most photogenic, pancakes and eggs in Swansea.
This is the kind of place that’s worth seeking out, it feels like a genuine local secret. A community focused cafe with a dedicated following, that takes pride in its locally sourced ingredients and directional dishes.

- Laura recommends: “This is the hardest place to pick a favourite, with seasonal specials and the most incredible menu to choose from, you could eat something new and delicious every day. But my current favourites are the Tropical Brunch Tapas Toast and the Sticky Toffee Pancake Stack – my mouth is watering just thinking about them.”
La Braseria

A beloved institution in the heart of Swansea, La Braseria has been serving up Mediterranean inspired cuisine to a devoted clientele for decades. The restaurant offers a warm and rustic charm with an open grill that takes centre stage; food theatrics in an authentic atmosphere.
The food is consistently excellent, combining the best of Spanish and Portuguese flavours with a welcoming, bustling vibe. Always popular, booking is essential, especially on weekends.
