Located within the beautiful Wye Valley, this three-storey property is full of character and has lovely views. With a wood burner for a warming glow in winter and shared garden space for outdoor dining, it makes a perfect getaway for a solo adventure, couples, two friends or small families.

Stone walls, exposed wooden beams and some sloping ceilings create a charming, traditional atmosphere within this appealing property, which is one of ten in a tranquil complex. Once inside, head up a few steps to find the bathroom, then more stairs take you to the double bedroom, with its attractive furniture and gorgeous view. It’s up again to the first floor, where you’ll find a compact kitchen – nevertheless well equipped for preparing all your holiday meals – and a dining table. This space flows through to the welcoming lounge, where a wood burner will create a warming glow on chilly evenings and there’s a TV and DVD player for entertainment. More stairs lead to the mezzanine, overlooking the lounge, in which a single bed sits under the sloping ceiling. For enjoying a drink or a meal in the fresh air, the shared gardens are very pretty, with a large lawn and rattan dining furniture, and intriguing views of a ruined castle.

This beautiful cottage is located in the village of Goodrich, just metres from the English Heritage’s Goodrich Castle and close to riverside walks and premier salmon fishing. The ancient hill fort of Symonds Yat Rock, 3.5 miles, offers spectacular views across the valley, and the Wye Valley Butterfly Zoo is just 2.5 miles. Only 4.5 miles away, the quintessential market town of Ross-on-Wye is a great day out, where you can stroll the historic streets exploring an abundance of independent shops, promenade along the river or even book a canoe outing.
