This gorgeous period cottage is on the outskirts of the quaint village of Goodrich, amongst the rolling countryside of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The property is ideal for large families and groups of friends, with a sociable, open-plan layout. The village’s fascinating medieval castle is a short, 0.5-mile walk away, and you’ll also be 200 metres from the traditional village inn. For shopping and eating out, Ross-on-Wye is 4 miles away.

The 14th-century stone cottage is full of period features and is furnished with traditional, antique-style pieces that really complement the property. The ground floor is open plan with a vast lounge/kitchen/diner – the perfect spot for spending quality time together. At one end is a bespoke kitchen area, where the original cider press has been converted into a stylish breakfast bar/island. The opposite end of the room houses a cosy lounge area, with comfortable seating arranged around a wood burner and TV/DVD. There is a ground-floor super-king-size bedroom with an accessible wet room and its own entrance from the parking area. The remaining bedrooms are upstairs, both of which have en-suite facilities. Outside, dine alfresco on the terrace and toast marshmallows around the firepit. Guests are also welcome to explore the extensive, shared grounds surrounding the property.

Take a stroll around the pretty streets of Ross-on-Wye, which are lined with pastel-coloured period properties and historic buildings. As well as having a good selection of traditional shops and eateries, you’ll also find intriguing antique stores and vintage boutiques to browse. If you fancy a day amongst nature, head to the iconic viewpoint of Symonds Yat Rock (3.5 miles). As well as offering spectacular vistas across the Wye Valley, it’s also a haven for birdwatchers with peregrine falcons and buzzards circling overhead.

This is a very nice cottage. Bedrooms are large with comfortable beds, nice ensuite facilities. Plenty of space indoors and out for six people. The outdoor area is very nice with views, but not private. The kitchen is very well equipped. Our only issue with the property was the tv's. Bedrooms tv's didn't work at all, the living room set had no liveRead more TV. Not great if you have kids and the weather is bad. Reported on our 2nd day but not fixed. Walk to town is by a narrow path alongside a busy road Hide

Very spacious and well fitted-out house. Interesting historical features (cider press) still present. Lovely patio space at rear of house leading out onto spacious grounds - ideal for outdoor games etc. Excellent location from which to visit places in the Wye valley. The nearby Goodrich castle is particularly worth a visit.
