Hit the dog-friendly beaches in Saundersfoot

A holiday in Saundersfoot demands a visit to the picturesque beach (one of the best in West Wales), which offers a vast stretch of golden sand, backed by the village itself. This fabulous stretch of the coast showcases beautiful views towards the Irish Sea and boasts all the amenities needed to enjoy a full day out at the beach.
With its gently sloping sands, it is a popular beach for families, who can enjoy playing games along the shoreline, as well as paddle safely in the shallow waters. To the south of the beach lies the pretty harbour, which adds to Saundersfoot’s traditional charm, whilst looming overhead just north of the beach, you’ll find the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast Path.
Those with canine companions needn't worry about leaving their bow-wows behind; Saundersfoot Beach allows dogs, so you can frolic with Fido to your heart's content. There are seasonal restrictions, detailed below but head down the slope at the far end of the harbour and you'll find the Glen Beach, full of rocky adventures, and is dog-friendly all year round.

Let your dog run free at Saundersfoot dog park

Let your pup have a ball and book a visit to Bush Farm Dog Paddock, which you’ll find just outside Saundersfoot. It is a haven for dogs who need plenty of exercise and love to run free, offering a safe, secure environment and plenty of peace of mind.
The paddock is gated and fenced (4’6” high), providing the perfect opportunity for your four-pawed friend to burn off an abundance of energy, socialise with other dogs and have fun in a controlled environment, off-lead without the worry.
Bush Farm also offers exclusive private hire sessions, allowing you and your dog to enjoy the space all to yourselves if you’d prefer; perfect for shy dogs or those who need a more relaxed environment to play. Visit a woodland garden

This National Trust property is a magical place to explore with your entire family – including your dog. The historic garden boasts a diverse landscape, from tranquil streams and vibrant meadows to ancient woodlands with hidden grottos. Wander along winding paths to discover hidden corners and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere with your canine companion at your side.
Clearly, dogs are warmly welcomed at Colby Woodland Garden, however, they aren’t allowed in the walled garden and must be kept on a lead at all times to protect the wildlife. And whilst there aren't any dedicated pup play areas, the large garden offers plenty of opportunities for your dog to sniff out new scents and enjoy the sights and sounds of nature.
After exhausting yourselves in the outdoors, head to the Bothy Tearoom, where you’ll find a range of refreshments and even a doggy ice cream for your canine companion. Colby Woodland Garden provides the perfect escape for you and your dog, offering a chance to enjoy a leisurely stroll in a beautiful setting.

Warmly welcoming dogs (with humans tolerated!), they offer indulgent hot chocolates, artisan coffee and scrummy cocktails. Your pup will also be thoroughly spoiled as Citrus Cove Beach Bar has created its own treat bar … just for dogs!
The Royal Oak

A traditional pub in Saundersfoot, known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and inviting interiors, The Royal Oak is a great place to visit for popular pub fare and a wide range of spirits, wines and local ales.
On the menu, you can expect to see pub dishes like fish and chips, steaks and Sunday roasts; there’s often a daily special too. For a taste of authentic Welsh cuisine, visit Mamgu Welshcakes. As the name suggests, their specialty is, of course, Welshcakes. Traditional treats, Welshcakes come in a variety of flavours from the classic raisin, to more adventurous options like cheese and onion.
Beyond their signature cakes, you can explore a menu featuring other Welsh classics, such as cawl, Welsh rarebit and bara brith. With its warm and inviting atmosphere, the cafe is perfect for enjoying a leisurely meal or a quick snack post walk. Saundersfoot to Monkstone Point

For panoramic views of the coastline and the surrounding area, embark on a moderately challenging stroll to Monkstone Point, following the coast path for much of the route. You'll encounter rocky shores, sandy beaches, ancient woodland and may even spot some wildlife along the way.
As you leave Saundersfoot behind, you’ll find yourself navigating some gentle to steep inclines, as well as a mix of terrain, including cliff-top woodland – a bluebell wood, come spring – that although challenging, is a mesmerising section to explore.
Beautiful Monkstone Beach sits below a craggy cliff face, and it is sometimes a challenge to reach the sand, especially after heavy rainfall. However, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views across the coast as you reach Monkstone Point.

Saundersfoot Harbour Walk

Enjoy an easy stroll around Saundersfoot’s lovely harbour where you can take it the gorgeous sea views. Begin your dog-friendly stroll at the Marina Fish and Chip shop near the Harbour entrance, maybe even pick up some tea to enjoy while sat on the harbour wall. Wander past the Coastal Schooner before following the path around harbour to the Marine Centre.
If you still have room after your chippy tea, pop in to MamGu Welshcakes to try this delicious Welsh treat. Carry on around the harbour and you’ll find yourself at the tiny stone lighthouse. Make sure you finish your wander with a visit to Glen Beach which is next to the harbour, for your pooches to get some sandy paws at this year-round dog-friendly beach.

As the name suggests, The Salty Spaniel is an independent boutique with a welcoming policy for dogs. You’ll quite often find the owner's dog, Woody (the Salty Spaniel) in residence.
A popular haunt for one-off garments and gifts inspired by the Pembrokeshire coastline, here you’ll find items like hoodies, T-shirts, mugs and magnets featuring original designs. They also stock other lovely items like felt art, seaweed-themed crafts, silver jewellery and shawls.
