Cottages in Newtown

The largest town in the county of Powys, Newtown's origin as a market town was in 1279 when King Edward I granted a charter to hold a market on Tuesdays, and a street market is still held on that day. The town grew in the 18th and 19th centuries around the textile and flannel industry; Newtown has a textile museum, and the Royal Welsh Warehouse near the railway station sold flannel by post, the world's first mail order firm. In the house where the 19th-century social reformer was born is the Robert Owen Memorial Museum and WH Smith has a small museum over its shop on the High Street. Enjoy all this with a fantastic stay in one of our Newtown cottages.

For even more culture, visit The Oriel Davies Gallery, the largest and most significant visual arts venue in the region and a key gallery of Wales, showing groundbreaking national and international contemporary art and craft. Newtown is also home to Hafren, one of the most popular theatres in Mid Wales. Facilities at the Maldwyn Sports Centre include a swimming pool, squash courts and a fitness suite. All of this and more can be enjoyed from one of our Newtown cottages. If you’re looking to take the family on a fun-filled holiday or fancy getting away with your loved one for a romantic retreat for two, our selection of holiday homes in Newtown will fit the bill.
