Gower Peninsula cottages
We may be a little biased, but the Gower Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has to be one of the best coastlines in Wales, Europe and even the world. A well-deserved South Wales break here along the coast always makes for a memorable trip, but why not make it even more special by booking one of our Gower cottages? We have a range of exclusive, unique and varied accommodation across Gower for you to choose from, including luxury and dog-friendly cottages.
A holiday is just as much about where you stay as it is about what you do. At Wales Cottage Holidays, we are proud to offer some of South Wales’ most stunning Gower holiday cottages, many of which boast unrivalled sea views and special features such as hot tubs. Choose from sea-view apartments, quirky lodges, hillside homes and even luxurious grand manor houses - the possibilities are endless.
Holidays on the Gower Peninsula
Gower is a surfer’s paradise and has been a popular surfing destination for decades. Llangennith is usually the favourite, as its position facing directly onto the Atlantic Ocean means it gets a larger swell and bigger waves. For those wanting to learn how to surf, Gower Surf School, South Wales Surf Lessons, and Progress Surf School offer surf lessons and Stand Up Paddle offer paddleboarding lessons across the Gower Peninsula.
Gower also has a fascinating history and archaeological significance. The first human remains in Britain were found in Gower, and were identified to be over 30,000 years old. Arthur’s Stone (of ‘The Sword in the Stone’ fame), is also located in Gower and can be visited in Swansea Bay. A neolithic tomb dating back to 2500 BC is also on the site, and the surrounding area is said to have been visited by Henry VII on his way to the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. With all this British history entrenched in its landscape, Gower is sure to be a hit with history lovers and our Gower cottages make for the perfect holiday base.
A visit to Swansea should be added to any Gower itinerary. Not only is it the second largest city in Wales, but it is also home to the largest covered market in Wales. Swansea market has over 100 stalls selling everything from fresh local seafood, sweet treats, warm Welsh cakes and delicious deli offerings, to stylish clothing, eye-catching jewellery and wonderful Welsh gifts. It even won the award for Britain’s Best Indoor Market in 2020.
Gower is also the perfect place for a family-friendly holiday. Some of the area’s top family attractions include Mumbles Pier, Penllegare Valley Woods and Rhossili Bay.
