Newbridge-on-Wye Cottages

Situated some 7 miles south of Rhayader, the village is on the main A470 north to south Wales road at its junction with the B4358 which runs from Beulah to Llandrindod Wells. Historically, the location provided a safe crossing point of the River Wye for drovers moving their livestock eastwards and this is commemorated by a statue of a drover on the village green. It was also a resting point for the drovers and the village once had a large number of pubs.

The New Inn by the Llandrindod Wells road junction is believed to date from the C16th and the name refers to the replacement of an even earlier tavern on this site.
