Easter in Wales is a wonderful time when the landscapes bloom with springtime colours and people come together to celebrate. From ancient traditions to modern-day family fun, an Easter holiday in Wales offers something for everyone. Whether you're wandering through daffodil-strewn fields watching lambs frolic, or getting involved in an Easter egg hunt in an ancient castle, there's no better place to experience Easter than in beautiful Wales. 

Across the country, towns and villages host a wide variety of Easter events that cater to all ages and interests. Families can take part in egg hunts set against the backdrop of historic estates, hop on an Easter express, and even meet the Easter bunny. Easter events in North Wales

North Wales is a fantastic destination for an Easter holiday, offering a perfect mix of breathtaking scenery, outdoor adventures, and family-friendly attractions. As spring arrives North Wales’ mountains, forests, and coastlines become the perfect place for explorers of all ages. A holiday in Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park is a highlight, where visitors can enjoy scenic hikes, take a ride on the historic steam railways, or simply admire the stunning views from peaceful picnic spots. 

The area also comes alive with Easter-themed events that make the holiday extra special for those visiting with children. Many of North Wales’ famous castles host Easter egg trails with a medieval twist, and farm parks such as Manorafon give visitors the chance to meet real life baby bunnies. 


Llanberis Lake Railway Easter Egg Hunt

Visitors to North Wales at any time of the year should make sure to take a trip to the Llanberis Lake Railway. Their steam engines take you on a 5-mile round trip right through the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park. This lovely trip takes you past 13th-century castles, through country parks and alongside Llyn Padarn amongst other wonderful sights and stops.  

For families visiting at Easter there’s extra fun on offer, in the form of an Easter Egg Hunt. From 18 to 21 April visitors can hunt for the eggs that their resident White Rabbit has hidden around the railway. There's a prize on offer for children who take part.

Easter Dragon Egg Hunt – Gwrych Castle

Perhaps most famous for hosting I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here when it temporarily moved to Wales, Gwyrch Castle is a fantastic day out on the North Wales coast. Built in the early 1800’s, this Grade I-listed country house is now a popular tourist attraction where you can do everything from visit I’m a Celeb filming locations, to take part in a ghost hunt. 

For those visiting at Easter, there’s an important mission to complete. Dewi, Gwrych Castle’s dragon has escaped and left her magical eggs all over the grounds. Families can take on the Dragon’s Quest between 12 and 21 April. Medieval characters will guide guests as they solve riddles and puzzles to find the missing eggs. Once completed, visitors under 16 will receive a chocolate treat as a reward.

GreenWood Family Park – Dinosaur Extravaganza

GreenWood Family Park is a day out like no other in North Wales. This forest of fun offers woodland adventures for all. From soft play and meeting the friendly farm animals in Cwtch Corner to riding the world’s only people powered coaster, there’s something for everyone here.  

But this Easter, dinosaurs are taking over the park! Explore the ancient woodland to find fossils, spot the prehistoric creatures, and follow the Dino Eggstravaganza Trail. For those who can hunt down the clues and find the missing word, there’s a chocolate treat waiting for you. South Wales is a brilliant choice for an Easter holiday in Wales. Easter at Mumbles Pier

A visit to this wonderful Victorian establishment is always one of our Mumbles must dos. From playing in the arcade to eating delicious fish and chips on the beach, Mumbles Pier is a fun day out for the whole family. Especially when you finish your day with one of their yummy ice creams or delicious milkshakes!  

At Easter, the Mumbles Pier fun ramps up even more. They have a whole host of events lined up to entertain the whole family. From 11 to 27 April there’s a free Easter egg trail, with a chocolate surprise for anyone who can find all 10 eggs hidden around the site. And over the Easter weekend there’s also an Easter Egg Beach Hunt, a chance to meet the Easter Bunny, and even have breakfast with him!

Mad Hatter’s Quest – The Royal Mint

Just 20 minutes from Cardiff you’ll find The Royal Mint Experience, one of South Wales’ most popular tourist attractions. Here you can find out more about the history behind the nation’s coins, and how money is made, as well as exploring a number of interesting exhibitions. 

And this Easter, the Royal Mint is going bonkers! Inspired by Lewis Carroll's ‘Alice's Adventures in Wonderland,’ there will be a fun interactive event full of topsy-turvy fun called the Mad Hatter's Quest. Join the White Rabbit and his delightfully mad friends to solve riddles and puzzles, just make sure you complete the challenge before you incur the wrath of the Queen of Hearts!

Gower Fresh Christmas Trees’ Easter Extravaganza

Located on the Gower Peninsula, this family farm has grown over recent years. It now grows over 500,000 Christmas trees, is home to the largest herd of reindeer in Wales and has even supplied 10 Downing Street’s Christmas tree. But the farm has become equally famous for its activities and events. On various sites across the Gower, Gower Fresh do everything from stunning Sunflower Fields, perfect for posing, to pumpkin carving days for Halloween. 

However, we’re here to talk about Easter, and they have lots of activities lined up for some springtime fun for everyone. For those looking for the perfect picture for Instagram, visit the tulip fields where you can stroll through rolls of colours and pose in front of the flower arches and windmill. Crafty folk will enjoy the Easter Paint-Along event, where with expert tuition and tips, you’ll create your own masterpiece, a painting of the tulip fields. Meanwhile families will have huge amounts of fun, not only is there an Easter trail around the farm but there also a foam party with the Easter Bunny, a truly unique way to celebrate the holiday.

Easter events in West Wales

Folly Farm Easter Egg-stravaganza

Previously awarded the title of the ‘Best Day Out in Wales’, Folly Farm is a must visit while on holiday in West Wales, whatever your age or the weather. Animal lovers will adore visiting the zoo. From a pride of lions to black rhinos, there are over 100 different species of animal to see. But that’s not all, there are playgrounds for the kids and an indoor vintage fairground that everyone will love, whether they’re young or old. 

Throughout the year, they also put on events, such as their amazing Easter Egg-stravaganza. This April, the team at Folly Farm have a whole host of treats in store. There will be dancing and games, as well as craft time where little visitors can make their own Easter chick, bunny ears or woolly sheep. There are also meet-and-greet sessions with some of their farmyard animals, including adorable baby chicks. Over Easter weekend, there will be an extra opportunity to win some yummy treats; visitors will need to keep their eyes peeled for ‘Easter Surprise’ egg-themed cards.

Llys-Y-Fran Easter Egg Trail

Set within 350 acres of scenic woodland and grassland surrounding a picturesque lake, Llys-y-Frân Lake and Visitor Centre in Pembrokeshire offers a diverse range of activities. With lambs dotting the countryside and wildflowers starting to bloom, Easter is a perfect and picturesque time to explore Mid Wales. Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway – Easter Carrot Express

One of the best ways to take in all the sights of beautiful Mid Wales is to take a ride on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway. Starting your journey at either Llanfair Caereinion or Welshpool Raven Square Stations, you can experience a 16-mile round trip through the rolling Welsh borders countryside. Pulled by a historical steam or diesel locomotive engine, visitors young and old will love admiring the view and spotting wildlife, especially from one of the open balcony carriages. 

This Easter, families will also be able to spot the hidden Easter trail items throughout your journey. But the fun doesn’t stop there, at Llanfair Station there will be fun and games, including a magic show and a mini easter egg hunt. And once you reach Welshpool Raven Square you’ll be greeted by the Easter Bunny and children will be gifted an Easter egg.

The Silver Mountain Experience – Mr Balcombe’s Chocolate Challenge

The Silver Mountain Experience offers an engaging blend of history, myth, and adventure, making it an ideal day out for visitors of all ages. Set in a restored 18th-century silver-lead mine the attraction features guided tours such as ‘A Miner's Life,’ which provides an authentic glimpse into the challenging lives of past miners, and the actor-led ‘A Dragon's Tale’ adventure which invites families to search for Grotty, the site's friendly resident dragon. Beyond the tours, visitors can enjoy surface attractions, a café, and a gift shop, all set against the picturesque backdrop of the Cambrian Mountains. 

This Easter they are inviting visitors to have some choc-tastic fun at Mr Balcombe’s Chocolate Challenge. Guests can meet the man himself and find out how he plans to turn the mine into a chocolate factory. Then take part in the Chocolate Challenge and find the silver tickets to help produce the ‘Balcombe Bar’.
